This is a real quick post to let everyone know that the 1st Pocono Tweetup has been scheduled for December 18th at Panera Bread on Route 611 beginning at 8:15am.

Full details can be found at the Pocono Tweetup Ning / Forum under the Events tab. You can sign up to be a member of the forum (there is no cost involved) where you can read about new Events and interact with other members, build your own MyPage with info about yourself and browse through the forums to find some good content relating to Social Media. There’s also a real time chat feature which could be really helpful if you’re working on something and get stuck and need a helping hand.

Please visit the forum and introduce yourself. We will be talking about the forum on Friday to see how we can make it a useful tool for everyone.

Thanks and hope to see you at Panera Bread Friday (directions and info are on the forum under Events).

Pocono Tweetup – Sharing What We Know With The Community

How?

A small group of people that met using Social Media tools will be gathering in the next week or two over a cup of coffee to meet each other in person. You can read about it at Bruce Flinn’s blog

Why?

This ones pretty simple. There are a lot of people talking about Social Media. We want to take it to the next level and actually do Social Media. By connecting person to person we will all have the opportunity to learn from each other and share ideas no matter how long or short our Social Media journey has been.

What?

Social Media is made up of a large number of tools and it is not the final stop on the bus route. It is a way to reach farther into the community and start conversations. Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, flickr and blogs are just a means to talk with one another. However these products can be confusing, time consuming and frustrating to those that are trying to break into the Social Media theater. Our group is a diverse collection of people that are at different mile markers along their own Social Media Journey. Some have been doing this for years and are very established while others are only a couple of months into it themselves.

We want to share with the Pocono community the knowledge that we have collected along the way.

Where?

This is all going to depend on how many people are interested. To begin with most of the information and activities will be listed on this blog and as the core group of facilitators comes together we will start to formulate dates and locations for meet ups.

PoconoTweetup.com will be the learning example blog. As we move forward together through our learning process all the technical stuff like adding plugins, selecting themes, working with affiliate networks, and everything else associated with building a blog will be demonstrated here as an example. Posts will be made detailing each process with pictures and links to follow along. But the bulk of the doing will be during the meet ups where it will be easier to ask questions and get one on one help.

We will be doing the same by using other social media tools as examples to follow like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc..

Conclusion

This seems like quite an ambitious undertaking but we feel strongly about the opportunity that Social Media tools have brought to the table and we want to give you a resource to turn to. As we’ve said before everyone is at a different place along their SM journey and this can be a real asset to the community.

You learn when we learn and we all learn better by doing.

Thank you for stopping by. Comments are strongly encouraged.
